Carnmoney Colts U12s 1 Northend United U12s 9 Saturday 29th January 2011
Northend United Youth U12s travelled to Mallusk on Saturday to play Carnmoney Colts in the league missing a few players due to sickness and school visits giving the players coming in a chance to show what they could do.
The young Blues started well and it wasn't long before they took the lead, Conor Graham starting on the right wing today beat a couple of players before crossing for David Kilgore, who controlled and shot, giving the big keeper no chance.
Two minutes later the same players helped double the lead, once again Graham beat some players and crossed for Kilgore to shoot past the keeper from twelve yards.
Carnmoney came back at Northend and from a corner scrambled a goal when the ball wasn't cleared and the striker gave keeper James Morgan no chance.
This seemed to spur on United and in their next attack Philip Maybin beat two players
and tucked the ball under the keeper for their third. Kilgore showed his strength for United's fourth when he held off three challenges and beat the keeper with a great strike from the edge of box to complete his hat-trick. The Blues fifth came just before half time when good work between Maybin and Andrew Milligan on the left and after an excellent run Milligan crossed for Zack Herbison to spin and volley past the keeper, to leave the half time score 5-1 to the Blues.
Eamonn Elliott and Sam Stewart replaced the hard working Andrew Milligan and David Kilgore. Northend started strong again and when Graham played in Herbison he looked up before squaring for Elliott to fire past the keeper for the sixth.
Sam Bennett replaced the injured Robbie Dennison. Northend's next goal came when Stewart crossed from the left but the big keepers kicked clearance struck Herbison in the chest and spun back into the net.
Eamonn Elliott set up the next goal when he passed to Maybin on the edge of the box and the big fella set himself before shooting low and hard into the corner of the net.
Still the Blues weren't finished and great work between Conor McHugh and Graham on the right played in Bennett who beat his marker and crossed for Herbison to fire home from eight yards for his hat-trick and United's ninth, leaving final score 9-1 to Northend.
This was another great display from the young team to keep them up the table with the leading pack.

Barn United U12s 1 Northend United U12s 5 Saturday 15th January 2011
Northend United Youth U12s travelled to Beltoy on Saturday with a depleted team due to sickness and other commitments, to play an inform Barn United.
Northend took the lead after ten minutes; a great corner from Philip Maybin was flicked on to Conor Graham who produced an outstanding overhead kick to give the keeper no chance.
Barn came back at Northend and equalised when their forward gave Ryan McKenna in goals no chance with a shot in to the roof of the net.
The Blues once again took the lead when a free kick from Gareth Downey was knocked back by Zack Herbison to Oliver Boyle who produced an excellent strike from the edge of the box to make the score 2-1 to Northend. The score stayed the same to half time.
The young Blues started the second half much stronger and good work between Philip Maybin and Sam Bennett on Northend's left wing led to Bennett making a penetrating run and from the resultant cross, there was big Maybin to turn and give the keeper no chance from ten yards.
Northend soon scored again when another splendid corner by Maybin was flicked on at the front post by Ben Sempey and the keeper couldn't stop the ball going in to the net. Sam Stewart replaced Sam Bennett.
Oliver Boyle set up Northend's fifth when he beat two players and crossed for Sam Stewart to volley home at the back post for a good win and excellent away result.
A Big thanks to the players who played out of position and a special mention to Philip Maybin and Zack Herbison who played even though they had been unwell for most of the week. Well done lads....

Dungannon United U12s 2 Northend United U12s 1 Wednedsay 5th January 2010
Northend Youth U12's had to travel to Dungannon on Wednesday evening to play their rearranged NIBFA Cup match against the Elite National League leaders. The young team knew this was going to be a tough match, and having not played since the first week in November would be really off the pace.
Dungannon started off the brighter on a cold night and it wasn't long before young James Morgan in the Northend goals was called into action to save smartly at the forwards feet.
Northend couldn't get their usual passing game going and Dungannon took the lead midway through the first half, a mix up in the Northend defence let in the forward to prod the ball into the net. With no further scoring in the first half the score remained 1-0 to Dungannon at half time.
Dungannon started the second half again the stronger and doubled their lead after ten minutes when another mistake in the defence, let in the forward to give Morgan no chance.
Sam Bennett and Gareth Downey were replaced by Andrew Milligan and Jamie Crawford. With ten minutes left Northend finally started putting a few passes together and indeed the best move of the game ended with Robbie Dennison playing in David Kilgore who shot past the keeper to reduce the deficit.
United were now on top and if not for a couple of saves from the Dungannon keeper could of forced a draw in the dying moments. Dungannon did break
at the end but Morgan pulled off a wonderful save to deny them a third.
This was a good result for the young Northend team who have mainly only been together for just over a year, against the top National team ,and if not for the long break from football the score might have been different.
Thanks to the parents and supporters who travelled to Dungannon on a cold night to cheer the team on. Thanks to Dungannon who laid on refreshments for the boys and good luck for the rest of the season.
Man of the Match: James Morgan
Panel: J Morgan, G Downey(c), R McKenna, R Dennison, O Boyle, P Maybin, S Bennett, C Graham, D Kilgore, Z Herbison, C McHugh, J Crawford, A Milligan, E Elliott, J Galbraith.

Northend United U12s 5 Chimney Corner U12s 0 Saturday 6th November 2010
Northend travelled to Woodburn for the second week running, this time to play Chimney Corner in the Knock-Out Cup. Chimney Corner, who are under new management, were out to fight for their places and for the first twenty minutes gave as good as they got and wouldn't let the Blues get into their usual passing game,
Northend did eventually break the deadlock; a corner swung over from Philip Maybin broke to Eamonn Elliott who gave the keeper no chance at the back post.
United now upped the tempo and scored again just before half time, another great corner from Philip Maybin was cleared to Captain Gareth Downey who thundered a half volley into the top corner of the net from fifteen yards, leaving the half time score 2-0 to the Northend Blues.
Robbie Dennison, Jamie Crawford, Sam Bennett, Andrew Milligan and Conor McHugh replaced Boyle, Galbraith, Elliott, Stewart and Downey at half time to give all the subs a good run out.
United started the second half pinning Chimney Corner back into their own half and didn't take long to add to their tally, this time Conor Graham teeing up Philip Maybin who slammed in an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box.
Next to get on the score sheet was Zack Herbison who was played in by strike partner David Kilgore, outpacing the defence to slot past the keeper.
Andrew Milligan scored Northend's fifth when Herbison turned provider for Milligan to run through and slip the ball past the keeper and book United's place safely into the next round.
